This episode is about light and how we can distinguish what is from God and what isn’t by the power of the Holy Ghost.
As always, here is the talk, “Stand Forever” that I quoted in the podcast.
Here is the talk by someone like an apostle … but not the apostle (haha). Elder James R. Rasband of the Seventy
Here is the quote I was thinking of, “Although we do not fully understand the sacred mechanics by which the Savior’s atoning sacrifice heals and restores, we do know that to ensure a righteous judgment, the Savior will clear away the underbrush of ignorance and the painful thorns of hurt caused by others. By this He ensures that all God’s children will be given the opportunity, with unobscured vision, to choose to follow Him and accept the great plan of happiness.” The whole talk is sooo good. Please listen.
And here is the sweet talk by the prophet about JOY.
I don’t like computers. It marked four of my answers incorrect when they really were correct because I capitalized differently.
I know. I learned that was the case. I will not put points on those kinds of answers next week. Sorry it made you feel less smart. You’re great. You weren’t graded.
Hi, I have been a long time listener. I almost bought a bag of Brach’s bunny’s and chicks to mail you at Easter because I was listening to your podcast while shopping and found them when you said you couldn’t find them 😅 anyway, I just wanted to say how grateful I am for the extra light and knowledge your podcast has brought to my life. I have been a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints my hole life, and while I have been a consistent ( not perfect) student of the Master, my understanding has been increased, my heart softened, and my spirit more willing to see all those around me as the Lord dose. Thank you for helping me love the scriptures for what they truly are, love letters from a loving Heavenly parent , not sleep aids.
Keep up the good work 😃👍
I enjoyed it very much.
Melanie,
I knew you back in Richmond – I think my husband was just about to graduate from med school when you and Jeff were starting dental school. We were in Richmond Ward which then became Glen Allen Ward. You probably remember Heidi Marberger who was there at the same time.
ANYWAY,
I’ve been listening to your podcast since the beginning and rarely comment but this one I just had to because I feel like it’s probably one of the best you’ve ever done. You pulled together some scriptures that were really helpful to me as I’ve been thinking a lot about a friend who left the church. Thank for speaking truth each week. Never apologize for not being like other podcasts – you have something unique that others are clearly benefiting from – oh yeah, it’s the spirit! Thank you for being a vessel that the spirit can speak through. That is more important than whatever knowledge or understanding you might have personally. Please try to ignore the silly complaints that some people have – you just be YOU! If there are reasonable suggestions, of course, you can consider them. But so much of what people complain about online is just useless noise. Don’t let it bring you down or make you think that you need to change somehow. The spirit will tell you when you need to change something. . . I’m sorry . I know you already know all this.
THanks again!
SHannon
Thanks for your encouragement and kind words. I will take it to heart. I remember those times in Richmond with so much fondness. We became the Innsbrook ward when that change happened, but I do remember all of us being together at the beginning!
Dear Melanie,
Your podcasts exude love and acceptance as you clearly explain these beautiful gospel principles using stories that relate to me. When you teach, I get it.
