Sister Mariah Flemming

Matthew 10–12; Mark 2; Luke 7; 11

“These Twelve Jesus Sent Forth”

This episode talks about Jesus Christ sending his Apostles and US out to take care of His sheep until He returns. I speak about how we can do missionary work and about this bright and shiny sister missionary that gave her homecoming talk today and how amazing she was. (I’m including her picture).
I shared part of Neill Marriot’s talk, Abiding in God and Repairing the Breach. And read a part of her book, Seek This Jesus where she talks about first feeling God’s love as a 12-year-old and how she ran around and wanted to share that feeling with her friends.
I then spoke about how the Lord gives us what to say when we need it if we just continue to fill our minds with His word and stay righteous so we can have Him send the spirit to prompt us what to say.
I then referenced a talk by Elder D. Todd Christofferson in an article in the Ensign called, “Finding Your Life,” which correlates with a talk he gave called, “Saving Your Life,” which was not the same thing. It was very confusing and I set everyone straight.

But he said, “I’m confident that a number of you have been rejected and ostracized by father and mother, brothers and sisters as you accepted the gospel of Jesus Christ and entered into His covenant. In one way or another, your superior love of Christ has required the sacrifice of relationships that were dear to you, and you have shed many tears. Yet with your own love undiminished, you hold steady under this cross, showing yourself unashamed of the Son of God. This willingness to lose cherished relationships in order to follow the Savior comes with a promise that “he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it” (Matthew 10:39) …
I want to talk about the Lord’s seemingly paradoxical declaration that “He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it” It teaches a powerful, far-reaching doctrine we need to understand and apply.
A thoughtful professor offered this insight: “As the heavens are higher than the earth, God’s work in your life is bigger than the story you’d like that life to tell. His life is bigger than your plans, goals, or fears. To save your life, you’ll have to lay down your stories and, minute by minute, day by day, give your life back to him.”

I love that thought so much! “You’ll have to lay down your stories…” It’s so powerful.

Then I talk about the yoking up with the Lord. He wants to ease our burdens and he wants to help us! We just have to let Him.

It was actually just 6 seconds of fame

  1. If the man said that you were even more beautiful with your new haircut, and you felt that you looked ugly because of the haircut, then you must be very beautiful. I remember being surprised at how beautiful Sinead O’Connor looked with her buzzed hair, it’s because she’s very beautiful. Very beautiful people dont need hair to still be beautiful. Of course a beautiful spirit makes people even more beautiful, like Mariah’s glow.

  2. Man I love this podcast. I’m sad that it’s just once a week now that I’ve binged on all the episodes. Thank goodness I can go back and listen over and over again. Does the person who helped you buy the Mic and who made the video on how to do it, Do they have a podcast too? I’m a sucker for podcasts. I can’t wait until you also have a coaching podcast like the Happy podcast you suggested a while back ago

I love you. Thank you so much for all that you share. And I love your tangents because I have the same kind of brain. You are a gift in my life. Thank you.
