Here is a link to the lesson in the manual.

I loved this line from the lesson:  “If you ever wonder why bad things happen to good people like Nephi and his family, you may find insights in these chapters. But perhaps more important, you will see what good people do when bad things happen.”

Here are some of the resources referenced in the podcast.  I’m also including a talk my daughter sent me that isn’t in the podcast but it’s good.  Enjoy!

  1. Hi Melanie,

I started listening to your podcast last year when another “Come Follow Me” podcast that I had been listening to got discontinued. At first I wasn’t so sure about the hybrid thing, but since I had not listened to any of these podcasts before, they’re all new to me. I love your energy and the stories you tell.

I don’t normally comment on podcasts, but the one for this week really resonated with me. Hearing the story about you meeting Shane and not sure how it would work out reminded me of my own story, though I didn’t have to travel quite so far.

I got divorced in 2017 and, in the summer of 2018, when I met my current wife, I had custody of my 12 year-old son, while my ex had custody of my 5 year-old daughter. We lived in Denver and I met my current wife at a singles retreat in Estes Park, CO. We connected on a spiritual level. The only problem was that she lived in Rock Springs, WY. I just knew that I could not leave the Denver area, putting distance between me and my daughter. I had concerns about my ex, but I felt the Lord’s hand moving me. I felt much like Lehi journeying into the wilderness. I didn’t know how it was going to work, but the Lord did. 2 years after I got remarried and moved to Rock Springs, I was able to win a court case, and gain custody of my daughter. I have seen a lot of trials as I have come together with my wife, doing this whole blended family thing, but I know the Lord is watching over us and our children. After all, their His children too. Just thought I would share. Thanks for making these podcasts. I love to hear your testimony.
