Day One – Palm Sunday

For those who didn’t see my quick post on Instagram yesterday, here’s a quick run down.

I’m so excited about this!! 👏🏻👏🏻

Recently, I was asked to speak on Easter Sunday. Immediately, a talk by Elder Stevenson came to my mind. In this talk, he speaks of our need to make Easter a more important time of year. He suggested treating it more like Christmas! Learn more. Celebrate more. Share more. In his talk, he shared this quote by N. T. Wright:

“We should be taking steps to celebrate Easter in creative new ways: in art, literature, children’s games, poetry, music, dance, festivals, bells, special concerts. … This is our greatest festival. Take Christmas away, and in biblical terms you lose two chapters at the front of Matthew and Luke, nothing else. Take Easter away, and you don’t have a New Testament; you don’t have a Christianity.”

After I read this, I decided to find some ways to help us follow Elder Stevenson’s advice and make our Easter celebration more meaningful and important.

This year I’ve prepared a thought and some activities for every day during the Easter week – starting Palm Sunday.   Some are silly and some are serious. You know me, they are probably a little more “how does this apply to me” heavy than super scholarly. But I did find some fun facts and prepared some activities for us.

I am so happy to take Elder Stevenson’s advice and try to make Easter more like Christmas. I’m excited to have it be a celebration that lasts more than one day.

I interviewed a beautiful Catholic woman I met on a plane and an amazing family that just suffered the tragic loss of their baby. I will release both of those podcasts this week.

I will also put links to talks I like and fun facts that correspond with each day on social media. Instagram @comefollowmeforus and come follow me for us on Facebook.

I think this is going to be so fun.

Please share this with your friends and subscribe so you don’t miss any of the days.

Palm Sunday

Here is a link to my thoughts on Palm Sunday and a short video explaining what activity you can try today. Under my video, I will also link to Elder Stevenson’s talk, which inspired me to do this, and Elder Gong’s talk about hallelujah and hosanna.

Check out my book, "Feasting on the Words of Christ," where I share a simple, five-step method for receiving answers to your prayers through the scriptures. You're really going to love it!
